Story Behind The Scarf

The Hermès Grand Manege scarf design draws inspiration from the precision and artistry of the French equestrian tradition, specifically the Cadre Noir national riding school in Saumur. The scarf's intricate details, including rosettes, cockades, bits, and stirrups, are all elements borrowed from the ceremonial costumes and movements of horses and riders performing in the Grand Manege arena. The design captures the curves and lines traced by the horses during dressage displays, translating them into a visually stunning silk scarf.
